Urban Reserve Tour

Thursday, June 13th or Friday, June 14th
Pick-up/Drop-off Potash Corp Way

This lunch bus tour will visit several of the urban reserves in Saskatoon. Saskatoon is home to Canada’s first commercial urban reserve that was established by the Muskeg Cree Nation in 1988. A commercial urban Indian reserve is a designated Indian reserve that is established within an urban area to allow for Aboriginal commercial ventures. Through these reserves, Aboriginal businesses benefit from the tax exemptions offered to reserves and the proximity to urban centres. The surrounding non-Aboriginal businesses enjoy the benefits brought by a thriving commercial centre. This 2-hour bus tour will provide participants with a lunch and tour of several urban reserves and urban Aboriginal organizations in Saskatoon.
